Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born in a Telugu family in a village near Thiruttani India, in the erstwhile Madras Presidency near the border of Andhrapradesh and Tamil Nadu states. First Vice President of India (1952–1962) Second President of India (1962 to 1967) The highest civilian award in India "Bharat Ratna" was awarded in 1954 Radhakrishnan's birthday i.e. 5 Sept. is celebrated as Teachers' Day in India since 1962.
